Upgrade Your Backyard Without Building a Full Outdoor Kitchen
You do not need a full outdoor kitchen to buy from Canada Outdoor Kitchens. We supply and install single grills, pizza ovens, fire tables, heaters and outdoor refrigeration, and we add to existing outdoor kitchens too. Start with the one piece that changes how you use your yard, and build from there.
At the Calgary Stampede open house we helped host, 500 guests mistook us for a catering company. It was a fair guess. It also points to a bigger misunderstanding we hear often enough to address head-on: that Canada Outdoor Kitchens is full kitchen or nothing. Our name says kitchens, our studios are full of complete builds, and most of what we post is finished projects. Put that together and the conclusion is easy to reach, and wrong.
A complete outdoor kitchen is one thing we do. It is not the only thing we do. Here is how to upgrade a backyard in stages, and how to upgrade an outdoor kitchen you already have.
Four ways to upgrade your backyard, one piece at a time
1. Start with a pizza oven
A pizza oven is the easiest entry point because it changes how you entertain the moment it is lit. It also cooks far more than pizza: steak, chicken, vegetables and bread all do well in one. During Stampede week we ran two Fontana ovens and an Alfa for five hours straight, and the dough in the air drew a crowd all afternoon. Alfa Forni and Fontana both make freestanding models that need no built-in kitchen around them.

2. Add a grill or smoker
A new grill or smoker is the upgrade most people picture first. We supply Napoleon, built in Barrie, Ontario, alongside Hestan and other premium lines, and we help with the gas line, clearances and ventilation that decide whether a grill works well in your space or just fits in it.

3. Extend the season with heat and fire
Patio heaters from Bromic and fire tables and fire bowls such as Dekko, which are built in Canada, turn a patio that works from June to August into one you use for months longer. If your backyard feels empty after the first cool evening of fall, this is usually the missing piece.

4. Build a small foundation: cabinets and refrigeration
Not ready for a full build? Our outdoor cabinets and outdoor refrigeration let you create a modest counter, storage and a cold drink within reach, and the layout can grow into a larger kitchen later.
Already have an outdoor kitchen? Upgrade it by adding to it
Most outdoor kitchens are not finished the day they are installed. People live in them for a season, notice what they wish they had, and add it. The most common additions are a pizza oven, a heater, a fire table or refrigeration.
Send us photos and rough measurements, or visit a studio. We help work out what to add, what to skip, and what actually earns its spot on your patio, including the gas, electrical and clearance details that are easy to get wrong. If one piece becomes three, or three becomes a full outdoor kitchen, you are already working with the people who would build it.
Full install or one piece at a time: how it works
Both paths start the same way: tell us what you have, what you want, and how you like to use your yard. Call, email or visit a studio. From there, you choose the path that fits.
Path 1: One piece at a time
- Tell us what you are after: a pizza oven, a grill, a heater, a fire table or refrigeration.
- We advise on fit, clearances, gas and electrical, and tell you plainly whether a piece suits your space before you buy it. No design consultation is required unless you want one.
- We supply and install it, with service afterward. When you are ready for the next piece, we pick up where we left off.
Path 2: Full outdoor kitchen install
- We start with a design consultation, in person or virtual, to plan the layout, appliances, cabinetry and surfaces around how you cook and entertain.
- We confirm the design and the details, from gas and power runs to clearances, so the build goes smoothly. See how we work for the full process.
- We supply, build and install the complete kitchen, with service after installation.
Not sure which path? Start small, plan big
Many customers begin with one piece and grow from there. If a full kitchen might be in your future, tell us now. We can plan where the first piece goes so the rest can be built around it later, instead of being moved.
Start with one piece, or plan the whole kitchen
Canada Outdoor Kitchens builds complete outdoor living spaces. We also supply one piece at a time. Either is a good place to start. Call 1-844-371-7887, email [email protected], or book a consultation.
